The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Mission is to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Affiliates of Komen for the Cure represent one of the nation's largest private funding sources for breast health and breast cancer screening, education, treatment and support programs.
To date, the Lubbock Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has granted more than $1.6 million to help local non-profit agencies with projects related the education, treatment and screening of breast health and breast cancer.
In fiscal year 2009-2010, the Lubbock Area Affiliate will grant over $256,000.00 to its local service area.
Up to 75 cents of each dollar raised by the Lubbock Area Affiliate remains in the Lubbock Affiliate’s 16-County service area to help fund local ast health screening, treatment and education programs. The Lubbock Area Affiliate sends the remaining 25 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s National Award and Research Program.
Since 2003, the Lubbock Area Affiliate has contributed $383,458.19 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure's National Award and Research Program.
Our ability to fund these projects stems from the success of the Lubbock Area Affiliate’s Race for the Cure, and other Affiliate annual events dedicated to a world without breast cancer.
The next funding period will be for April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011. Requests for Applications (RFA) are due Friday, January 22, 2010 by 4:00pm. The 2010-2011 Request for Application (RFA) is available to download in the at the bottom of this page.
