The Lubbock Area Affiliate establishes funding priorities and Statement of Needs by conducting a Community Profile needs assessment every two years. Applicants are encouraged to develop their programs with these needs in mind.
Areas of Funding
1. Screening - Increase access to biopsies, breast cancer screenings, and breast ultrasounds by reducing financial barriers for uninsured and under-insured populations in the 16 county service area.
2. Treatment - Increase access to treatment and support resources that will encourage the patient’s continuum of care in the 16 county service area. Treatment may be defined as, but not limited to: BRCA testing, chemotherapy and radiation. Support resources may be defined as, but not limited to: breast prosthesis, eyebrows, eyelashes, food, gas, lodging, lymphedema garments, manual lymph node drainage massage, medication, and wigs.
Please note: Susan G. Komen for the Cure is not a direct service provider. We do not provide funds directly to individuals for screening or treatment, nor do we make referrals, determine who is eligible for screening and treatment.
The Community Profile is a needs assessment document that provides an overview of Komen’s grant-making priorities and the breast health needs in our service area. Please familiarize yourself with this document before developing your applications.
